What is Remedial Massage Therapy?
Remedial massage therapy is a deep tissue massage that works deeply in the muscle layers and connective tissues of the body. Muscle fibres can become tight or knotted causing pain and restricted Range of Motion in the joint, due to physical or emotional stress, occupational or sports related injuries.
Deep tissue massage is a treatment modality that manipulates the soft tissue of the body, that aids to relax the muscles, rids them of built up metabolic waste, treats chronic muscular-skeletal imbalances, removes blockages and damaged cells, releases adhesions and prevents scar tissue build up between muscles and connective tissue left after injury.

What is Bowen Therapy?
Bowen therapy was developed in the 1950's by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. The Bowen Technique is a gentle but very dynamic therapy, that taps into the body's natural feedback system to monitor the state of each muscle. The treatment comprises sequences of small gentle moves, each at specific sites on the body. There is no forceful manipulation, just light cross-fibre directional moves over a muscle, tendon or ligament, therefore pleasant to the patient.
The technique empowers the body's own healing resources, resulting in relief of pain and discomfort. As well as releasing any tension within the muscle. The moves also works on energy blocks (accumulated by injury, tension or disease), allowing increased energy flow and hence healing ability.

Why Massage?
You may find you may need a treatment when:
You may find you may need a treatment when:
- a muscle may become sore and tense through excessive use, emotional or physical stress or after injury.
- a muscle is asked to perform repeatedly any activity to which it is unaccustomed, such as hill climbing, painting a ceiling or digging the garden, to which it may respond by tightening.
- a muscle produces an onset pain due to an sudden unexpected movement, ie bending down, slipping or over stretching. This is particularly likely to happen if the muscles are already tight, and even a slight muscle tear can cause the muscle fibres around the joints to tighten up and protect the injury, leading to a further discomfort and restriction of movement.
- the muscle fibres bind together to form "scar tissue", which feels like a knot within the muscle, therefore preventing individual fibres from moving freely. When a joint movement is made, for example, the knotted fibres pull on the bone joints and may make the movement painful.
